Fleets for the Future: Innovative Procurement Strategies to Reduce Cost & Aggregate Demand
Procurement activities for new vehicles and technologies can be a daunting task for many fleets. This peer-to-peer workshop will present efforts by Fleets for the Future, a U.S. Department of Energy Clean Cities project. This effort focuses on making the procurement process easier and less expensive for fleets across all weight classes and ownership models. Through aggregated purchasing and a streamlined, intelligent procurement process, this project plans to increase deployment of alternative fuel vehicles.
This workshop, presented by the project partners, will explore the following topics:
- What kinds of efforts are being done to aggregate demand for new vehicle technologies, and what kinds of results have they shown? What lessons can be learned from these?
- How can fleets join Fleets for the Future's existing efforts for joint procurement?
- What types of considerations need to be made when procuring new vehicle technologies?
- How can the models that work well be expanded to other vehicle types, weight classes, and organizations?
